How to Join BWCA


Who can become a member?

Any person or corporate body in the water cooler business, or considering entering the water cooler industry, in any of the following categories (Subject to BWCA bylaws):

  • Bottler of Natural Mineral Water, Spring Water or Drinking Water.
  • Distributor of water coolers and bottled water for water coolers.
  • Operator of plumbed-in water coolers.
  • Supplier of products or services used by the above categories of member.

How to become a member?

Each category of membership has a qualification for joining. There are four categories of membership:

  • Bottler
  • Distributor (BW)
  • Operator (POU)
  • Supplier

Other than for Bottler membership, initially one joins the BWCA with a limited Applicant membership status. Applicant Members are not Full Members until they have attained the relevant qualification for the category of membership. During this time the BWCA logo or claims of membership may not be made in promotional or publicity material.

Full Membership is attained by passing the relevant third party audit and inspection and fulfilling the training requirements for the category of membership.

BWCA Members are mandated to only supply bottled water that originates from a source and bottling plant operated by a Bottler Member who has passed the annual Plant Inspection Audit.

Membership fees are assessed on sales turnover in the category of membership and activity in the Industry.
